AboutMy Family

Dr. McMillan is a native New Mexican and has been practicing medicine in Las Cruces since 1993. He is a board certified Otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist), and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Dr. McMillan is a fourth generation New Mexican, and grew up in rural De Baca County. He has served as President of the Medical Staff at Memorial Medical Center, Medical Director of the Mountainview Surgical Center, and Secretary of the Dona Ana County Medical Society. He is currently a commissioner on the Dona Ana County Extra Territorial Zoning Commission, and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Las Cruces.

Dr. McMillan has two children. Natalie is a sophmore at New Mexico State University, and his son Mitchell is a senior at Mesilla Valley Christian School. He and his wife Jodie recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.

Transparency

Openness and transparency in government is an ideal I embrace strongly. So should it be with candidates. The voters of District 37 should be aware that I am a recovered alcoholic. In April, 1993, I admitted myself for treatment in Dallas, Texas, after reaching the end of my rope with this problem. From that time, I have enjoyed 17 years of sobriety. I have participated continuously in the recovery community of Las Cruces, as well as in recovery related activities at my church, as many of you know. I will continue to do so for life.

Over the course of my 17 years of sobriety, I have had the great joy of seeing my children grow up, my marriage grow to 27 years strong. I have enjoyed a fruitful medical practice, and been in a position to serve the community in both hospital emergency rooms. I look forward to the rest of my life, and the challenge of serving the community as a legislator. I think the qualities of honesty, transparency, and acceptance of personal responsibility, which have been necessary to my recovery, and to my roles as husband, father, and doctor, will serve me well as your state representative.

A note from Mrs. McMillan: As Terry's wife, our family has reaped the benefits of his redemption and recovery, beginning when our children were babies. I respect and honor my husband's commitment to family, health and community. He has been a gifted leader in various capacities. I expect him to help rehab New Mexico.
